To define methodologies specifically tailored for assessing the quality of depth maps and corresponding impact on the perceived quality of virtual views and 3D QoE.  Available quality metrics for multiview applications in the State of the Art will be collected in collaboration with the WGs and Qualinet. A track of the ongoing work and outcomes will be posted on the Action website.

Objectives
  • To create a comprehensive collection of SoA on the methodologies to measure the perceived quality in the case of  usage of multiview contents, i.e. FTV applications, error concealment
  • To create a comprehensive collection of SoA on the existing metrics, including benchmark and 3D-ConTourNet contributions
  • Promote 3D-ConTourNet achievements in the field
  • To establish the quality metrics that should be used in 3D application scenarios relevant for the Action, taking into account available recommendations from standards bodies
  • To gather and organize available data (3D media streams, quality metrics) for research purposes and the already available 3D media content – in collaboration with Qualinet and other WGs
  • Identify new use cases based on future perspectives and new Actions.
Outcomes
  • The creation of a repository for 3D metrics (especially STSMs results)
  • Best practices on methodologies and metrics collected in a joint paper
  • Metrics improvement tackling new use cases, extending existing benchmark, and exploration of relation to QoE
  • Link with standardization bodies
